About Elders

Biblical Eldership
The following, is a collection of information, research and sermons that helped Henderson Hills change its governance to the biblical model of eldership.

Henderson Hills asked a group of men to begin looking into updating our churches bylaws. This group was known as the VIGR Team: Vision Implementation GRoup. During the months to that followed we discovered that Jesus had left a model for church governance.

The church is "built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone" (Eph. 2:20). Once this foundation was completed, the temporary officers were no longer necessary in the church. Therefore, since the apostles have passed from the scene, the church must be governed by the precepts of the written word alone, under the administration of the ordinary officers of the church the elders and deacons.

Contact with Elders
One of the highest priorities of the Elder Council is to be easily accessible to any church member who has a question, concern or need. To this end, Kim Swyden has been designated as the point of contact for members desiring to meet with the Council, or to arrange a time of prayer. Kim can be reached by calling the church office at 341-4639, or by email at kswyden@hhbc.com.
